The new bridge
There are those who claim that it was originally built in the Middle Ages between 900 and 1100 and who say it was made by the Romans. Some scholars hypothesize the existence of a Roman bridge at Getola, near the current Ferriera, which was destroyed by Totila in about 550. This resort, called Getola, is located a few hundred meters away from where it was built the bridge of St. John and this would exclude the hypothesis of the Roman origins of the latter

The Hypogeum of the Volumes (3rd century BC) was part of the vast Etruscan necropolis of the Palazzone, discovered in the nineteenth century and entirely brought to light from 1963 onwards. The necropolis is made up of almost two hundred chamber graves excavated in the soil dating from the 5th century. B.C. T of the Hellenistic age.
